Il Mare
2025
Gouache and Acrylics on canvas
200 × 100 cm
The sea draws near — not through sight, but through sensation. It arrives on warm currents of air, in the hush between sun and shadow, and most of all, through the presence of water within the villa itself. The pool becomes its messenger: a body of water that mirrors the sky, holds light, and invites renewal. It is still, yet alive —
a quiet echo of the sea’s vastness, brought close. Il Mare is shaped by this dialogue between waters — the distant sea and the water at our feet. The painting carries the energy of waves meeting the shore: the soft impact, the rhythmic motion, the dance of light across a shifting surface. Forms expand and dissolve, colors pulse and settle, like a tide that moves both inward and outward.
There is a sense of abundance here — of water as a source of life, reflection, and flow. The blues and greens are fluid and open, the reds spark like hidden warmth beneath the surface. Nothing is fixed; everything breathes. The painting becomes a space to enter, a surface to float upon, a moment suspended between grounding and release.
Though the sea lies beyond the villa, Il Mare brings it close — not as a view, but as an experience. This is a painting you step into. Like entering water, it surrounds you, touches the skin, shifts your sense of gravity. It invites you to pause, to breathe more slowly, to feel with your whole body. To stand in front of it is to be immersed — not just in color and form, but in the energy of the sea itself. It is an invitation to bathe in rhythm, in reflection, in the quiet power of water.
